Raising the Bar at NCA Cheer Camp

Congrats to Dragons Cheerleading on their NCA Cheer Camp success!
The John Cooper School continues to lead with unmatched school spirit, pride, and performance. Last summer, Cooper captured attention across the nation when student Lucas Frome ‘26, performing as Draco the Dragon, was featured in a broadcast news segment after earning the “Most Spirited Mascot” award at NCA Cheer Camp. That moment sparked a wave of pride across the Cooper community and demonstrated the power of personality, teamwork, and enthusiasm.

This summer, the Cooper cheer team returned to camp determined to raise the bar. They did just that by winning First Place for Best Mascot, an achievement that reflects how far the program has come in just one year. They also earned First Place in the Rally Routine competition and were awarded the Spirit Stick, a symbol of outstanding spirit, teamwork, and leadership.

"Our cheerleaders continue to impress with their heart, drive, and positivity," said Marilu Harman, Cheerleading Program Director of The John Cooper School. "Last year’s success with Draco was just the beginning. This year, we showed that Cooper’s spirit is here to stay and growing stronger."

This year’s camp was a celebration of progress, leadership, and school pride. From last summer’s “Most Spirited Dragon” to this summer’s “Best Mascot,” The John Cooper School has shown that its spirit is not only alive but thriving. The cheer team returns with honors, memories, and motivation for the year ahead.
