From the fairways of the DBC Golf Tournament to the inspiring conversations of the Signatures Author Series, these beloved annual traditions bring the Cooper community together in support of athletics, the arts, and transformative opportunities for students. 

The John Cooper School is proud to announce the return of two of its most anticipated community events, the 39th Annual Dragon Booster Club Golf Tournament and the 22nd Annual Signatures Author Series.

39th Annual Dragon Booster Club (DBC) Golf Tournament  
For nearly four decades, the Dragon Booster Club Golf Tournament has brought the Cooper community together for a day of friendly competition, meaningful connections, and Dragon pride. The 39th annual tournament will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, at The Woodlands Country Club Palmer Course, with registration opening on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. 

The 2026-27 Golf Co-Chairs are Pam Heatherington, Eric Payette, Kimberly Lee, and Craig Ury. 
“The Dragon Booster Club Golf Tournament unites our community around a shared commitment to Cooper Athletics,” said Christen Wilson, Chief Advancement Officer. “This event is about much more than a day on the course. It is an investment in our student-athletes, our coaches, and the future of Dragon athletics. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors and supporters whose partnership helps provide exceptional opportunities for students to develop teamwork, leadership, resilience, and school pride.” 
Tournament Day Includes: 
  • 18 holes of golf on a premier course 
  • Mahjong Tournament for non-golfers 
  • Contests such as Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin 
  • Happy Hour raffle prizes and awards ceremony 
Proceeds benefit Dragon athletics through programs, equipment, and initiatives that enhance the student-athlete experience. 
Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and community partners seeking meaningful visibility while supporting Dragon athletics. Sponsorship packages offer valuable engagement with the Cooper community while helping sustain and strengthen athletic programs for student-athletes. 

 

New York Times Bestselling Author Katherine Center Announced as Keynote Speaker for The John Cooper School's 22nd Annual Signatures Author Series 
The John Cooper School Fine Arts Council is pleased to announce that New York Times bestselling author Katherine Center will serve as the keynote speaker for the 22nd Annual Signatures Author Series luncheon. The beloved annual literary event will take place on Friday, December 4, 2026, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. Chaired by Drew and Melanie Creel, the event will welcome members of the Cooper community and guests from across The Woodlands for an inspiring celebration of literature, storytelling, and the arts. 

Known for her heartwarming, witty, and uplifting novels, Katherine Center has become one of today's most celebrated contemporary authors. Her bestselling books include The Bodyguard, Hello Stranger, Things You Save in a Fire, and How to Walk Away. Several of her novels have been adapted for film, earning her a devoted following among readers who appreciate stories centered on resilience, connection, and hope. Center's engaging storytelling and relatable characters have made her a favorite among book clubs and literary audiences nationwide. Center was born, raised and currently lives in Houston, Texas.  

The Signatures Author Series serves as a premier annual fundraiser supporting innovations in The John Cooper School's Visual and Performing Arts programs. In addition to the keynote presentation, the event traditionally features visiting authors, book signings, and an exclusive VIP reception for sponsors. Over the past two decades, Signatures has welcomed an impressive lineup of acclaimed authors and cultural figures, making it one of the most anticipated literary events in The Woodlands. Additional details regarding featured visiting authors and event programming will be announced in the coming months.
