Dragon Volleyball Prepared To Make A Run At SPC Title

Girls’ Varsity Volleyball Team 2017 Preview

Comments from Coach Ray Hedden, who begins his second season coaching at Cooper.

The Season
We enter the season healthy and aligned with our goals. The team has really come in ready to meet the challenge to improve on last year and make a run at the SPC title. They have bought in to the necessary effort level we expect as coaches to build upon last year’s 3rd place finish at SPC.

Goals

I am really excited for this season! I want continued focus on effort, teamwork and fundamentals. The coaches have done a good job so far concentrating on those three goals.
After our first tournament and two home games, I am very happy with both the varsity and JV teams executing on those directions. We see the effort, teamwork and fundamentals starting to take off. The varsity team has great chemistry again this year, which makes coaching them a ton of fun. I think we will make a run at the title again this year as long as we keep building and not go backwards in our efforts.

Varsity Roster

This year’s squad consists of returning members Kara O’Neal (2016 Team Offensive MVP and All SPC), Hannah Gooch, Mia Salerno, Anna Claire Adam, Emilie Albers, Peyton Tague, and Abby Frazier.
We have added Cooper newcomers Lauren Harkness, Kristina Ward, Carolina Monteverdi and Maddie Smith!
