Results from the week of January 22

VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL
1/23 at St John’s* • 63-43 L
1/26 vs Houston Christian* • 69-68 W

Coach Matthew Wilson: The boys fought incredibly hard against two of the top teams in SPC this week Though we came up short at St. John’s, the boys won a thrilling game Friday night at the buzzer. Down 10, with less than two minutes to go, the team mounted a furious rally. Behind by two in the final seconds, Jeremiah Parquet found Jackson Williams who sank a three as time expired. It marks the first time the Dragons have beaten Houston Christian in SPC play. In addition, the boys secured the first back-to-back above .500 records in SPC since 2006. We are so proud of the boys’ effort and resiliency.

Coach Fri Engel: We had a tough week with two losses against St John's and Houston Christian. We continue to be unlucky with injuries and keep missing key players in our games. The remaining girls fought hard in both games. Eva Blanchard scored a goal against St John's. Freshman Jaila Groppe had two great games as an outside back. Friday night we celebrated our seniors at senior night. We are proud of all they have achieved and wish them all the best in their next adventures. We continue the season with two games next week. Tuesday we play Episcopal and Friday Awty.
