Dragon Spring Teams Prepare For Conference Play

Results from the week of March 21

VARSITY TRACK & FIELD 
3/22 hosting Cooper Triangle 2 vs. Concordia and Frassati
Coach Scott Holland: Tuesday was a Triangle Meet with Concordia and Frassati.  No scores were kept but we did have some excellent competition and results after coming off Spring Break.  
 
3/24-26 at Victor Lopez Classic 
Coach Scott Holland: A small group competed this weekend at the Victor Lopez Invitational hosted by Rice University.  This is one of the top meets in the Houston Area every year.  The meet has many of the best 5A & 6A UIL Schools and some of the top private schools.  We had some great results.
 
Amir Rizvi • 2nd 200m setting a NEW SCHOOL RECORD.  22.25
    Rizvi’s medal is the first-ever sprint medal at this meet for the Dragons.
Andrew Wilkins •  5th 800m
Will Young • 5th Pole Vault
Nico Signorelli • 5th Pole Vault
 
As a team, we finished 14th out of 32 scheduled teams.

VARSITY SOFTBALL 
3/22 vs. Concordia Lutheran • 15-3 W
Pitcher Grace Minarovic allowed three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out nine. Dragons collected 11 hits on the day with Ella Howard, Bella Tamayo and Leah Ruckman each collecting multiple hits. Howard went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Dragons in hits. Six players stole at least two bases, with Howard leading the way with five stolen bases. In the field, the Dragons did not commit a single error. Tamayo had the most chances in the field with nine.
 
3/25 vs. St. John’s* • 6-2 L
The Dragons had eight hits in the game with Ella Howard and Sydney Kelly leading the charge with several hits each.
 
Coach Nicole Hedden: We had a great win against Concordia on Tuesday. The loss against SPC-rival St. John’s on Friday was a tough one for us. Our girls did not execute what we had practiced so we have a lot of work to do this week to prepare for the rest of our conference games.
