From Coach Brent Landrum: This was our most complete team win. Defensively we held them to 10 points and under 300 yards of offense. We tackled well, we created turnovers, and we played with incredible effort on defense all night long. Special teams had a great night. James Araya is kicking  the ball well. He made a nice field goal last night. We recovered an onside kick. Ronnie Woodall made some great tackles on kickoffs. Offensively we had our best night running the ball. We gained over 200 yards rushing. The offensive line had their best game to date in the run game and they protected the passer well all night. Thomas Elkhoury had five touchdowns, that doesn’t happen often. Evan Minarovic threw five more touchdown passes, bringing his season total to 34 TD passes to only 5 interceptions. Rob DeLoit stepped in for an an injured Logan Lex and had a great night receiving the football. I am extremely proud of the focus this team has shown. We have a huge test this Friday in Fort Worth vs. Trinity Valley. We need a great week of practice. Go Dragons!

The boys were led by seniors Mitchell Shannon and Eli Araya, who finished in 5th and 6th place. Erik Burns and Cadan Hanson also ran well finishing in 13th and 20th. Will McDermott and Drew Wilkerson finished out Cooper’s scoring in 26th and 28th place.

Dragon girls finished in the 5th place, just one point behind SPC’s St Andrew’s. Junior Madison Breaux had her best meet of the year finishing in 13th place. Uche Oguchi followed her in 16th place. Freshman Rebecca Melin also had a great race finishing in 23rd followed by Paige Cromley in 25th. Freshman Abby Mendenhall was our final scorer in 27th place. Mendenhall has been gradually making her comeback from a stress fracture at the beginning of the season. “After missing a few weeks of training, it is great to see her making quick progress,” said Coach George Dohner. “We have a couple of kids that are struggling a bit with minor injuries, so we had some runners step up to fill those spots. This shows that we have some depth and will hopefully be able to build on that once we get everyone healthy.”

“This was a good meet for Cooper as we got to see how we matched up, head to head, with a couple of SPC schools we haven’t seen yet,” said Dohner “We did a good job and we are making progress with each meet on our way to SPC Championships in Dallas”
