From Coach Brent Landrum:
This team continues to improve. We played very sharp football on all three sides from the beginning of the game. The off-week comes at a great time. It will allow us to get healthy for the SPC-3A stretch we have coming up. The defense really stepped up this week with two scores. The offense ran the ball as effectively as we have all year. I am really proud of this team.

VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY

9/14 Willis Wildkat Invitational at Misty Meadows Girl Scout Camp

Boys’ Team • 3rd place
Cooper boys finished in 6th place running against some of the best runners in the state Any time we can get a chance to run against College Park, easily one of the top four teams in the state, is a great opportunity to shine. We did just that, putting two runners in the Top 15 of 105 runners. Junior Mitchell Shannon, lead Cooper with a 12th place finish running his first 5k of the season with a time of 17:07. Junior Eli Araya finished thirteenth just three seconds behind Shannon, with a time of 17:10. We were so proud our two leaders as they ran well in a very strong field. Junior Brian Ross finished in 31st place with a time of 18:32 which is another PR for him. Cooper's other scorers included Cadan Hanson, Will McDermott.

Girls’ Team • 5th place

Senior Sidney Cartwright finished 13th with a time of 20:42 and sophomore Paige Cromley finished in 18th place with a score of 20:54. Cooper's other scorers included Madison Breaux (25th place, 21:18), Avriana Lisembee (43rd, 21:58), Katie Drake (49th, 22:14), Uche Oguchi (50th, 22:17), and Shilpa Rumala (61st, 23:01)

From Coach George Dohner:
We were very proud of the kids’ performances at the Willis meet. This was our first 5k and they performed beyond our expectations.

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

9/11 at Concordia Lutheran • LOSS
From Coach Ray Hedden: The Dragons went 0-2 this week losing in straight sets to Concordia. We struggled with the important aspects of the game that we are normally great at. I definitely shoulder the loss as I don't think we were as prepared as we could have been.

9/15 vs. Conroe High School • LOSS
From Coach Ray Hedden: The Dragons also dropped a tough fight to a very athletic Conroe High School, losing in four sets. Our defense lacked intensity and we did not play our usual game. It was a great fight and will help us this week as we work to shore up our weaknesses!

Next up for Dragon Volleyball:
Sept. 19 vs. HCYA, 6 p.m.
Sept. 27 at Incarnate Word Academy, 6 p.m.
