Wong Named Finalist for ALL-USA Boys Golfer of Year

Accolade Added to Major Victories This Season
THE WOODLANDS - Coming off an excellent golf season for The John Cooper School that ended by breaking a Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) Championship record and being named individual Golf Champion, junior Ben Wong has now earned another major accolade. Wong is one of at least five finalists for the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Boys Golfer of the Year. The USA Today High School Sports reported that all fall and spring seasons must be completed around the country before the Player of the Year for boys golf will be named.

Wong, who set a SPC scoring record at the championships in late April with a total of 134, has committed to play for Southern Methodist University. “This is a great honor for Ben to be recognized,” said Cooper Athletic Director John Hoye. “His hard work and dedication to golf is second to none and it is a privilege to see him recognized on a national level.” Originally from Hong Kong and raised in Beijing, Wong has been a Cooper student since ninth grade.
