From Coach Brent Landrum: The loss on Tuesday in extra innings was tough but we played incredibly well that night. We had 10 hits and committed zero errors in the field. This carried over to Friday where we played extremely well. We pitched well, defended well, and hit well as a team. Our starting pitchers did a great job all three games. We received quality starts in every game. As a team we had 34 hits this week in 22 innings. That’s impressive. Emerson Raybon had a day for the ages Friday at the plate going 5 for 7 with 2 home runs, 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 8 RBI. His performance stood out among several great performances this week because of the amount of extra base hits and RBI.
Looking ahead to this week we have the Houston Power on Tuesday and our fourth conference game Thursday vs. St. John’s. This game, as with all conference games, is very critical for us. We are currently 2-1 in SPC south zone play and 11-14 overall. Every win helps with our seeding for the SPC championship tournament. I am extremely proud of how the boys are playing right now. I look forward to watching the season unfold from here.

Varsity Tennis

3/31 vs St. Andrew’s* Senior Recognition

4/1 vs St. Stephen’s*

From Coach Jill DelRio:
The varsity tennis team had two matches, Friday and Saturday against Austin teams, St. Andrews and St. Stephens Schools. Both girls and boys came out victorious, girls not losing a match either day. Boys lost two matches Friday to win 3-2 and Saturday winning 5-0. Omar Suki at line one singles and Victor Kareh had the challenging matches of the day, playing excellent tennis but falling short in the end. Both doubles teams won their matches without too much difficulty and let the deciding match to line 3 singles Jack Whitney who was able to win his match in true Cooper form 6-0, 6-0.

Varsity Golf

3/26-27 at St. John’s Invitational, Wolfdancer Golf Club

Boys–2nd place

Ben Wong 69 • 69 • 138 tournament champion, by seven strokes
Ryan Berrigan 82 • 81 • 163
Chris McDonald 80 • 84 • 164
Sean Kelly 77 • 87 • 164
Davis Noyes 107 • 101 • 208

Girls–4th place

Claire Coleman 96 • 91 • 187
Patty Chow 107 • 117 • 224
Natalie Osmond 121 • 119 • 240

From Coach Rod Gold: Ben overpowered a very challenging Wolfdancer golf course. He was the only player in the field to shoot under-par, and on top that, he shot in the 60’s both days. Ben is in total command of his driver. He hit a couple drives over 400 yards and putted the ball well. It is an absolute joy to watch someone play golf the way Ben plays. He had been playing extremely well leading up to the prestigious CB&I Invitational, and has continued playing brilliantly since. He is composed well beyond his years.
