Softball And Tennis Both Win Two, Track & Field Competes At Maverick Relays With Two Champion Performances

Varsity Girls’ Softball: Dragons Are Two-For-Two This Week

Feb. 28 vs. Northland Christian • 18-2 WIN
Thanks to an early lead, the Dragons claimed the victory.
Eryn Sanchez pitched five innings, giving up two runs, one hit and striking out twelve.
Dragons collected 11 hits by Brittany LaVergne, Kaitlyn Harris, Grayson Sloop and Kennedy Moran.

March 3 vs. Frassati • 17-1 WIN
Eryn Sanchez drove in four runs–on a triple in the first, a double in the third and a single in the fourth.
The path to the win started with an early lead in the first inning with runs thanks to Sanchez’s triple, and a single by Alex Sims. The eighth inning featured eight runs, thanks to a single by Grayson Sloop, a double by Sanchez, a single by Sims and a stolen base and a single by Brittany LaVergne, a groundout and a single by Kaitlyn Harris, and a stolen base by Nikki Juszczak. In total, the Dragons accrued seven stolen bases.
Pitcher Kaitlyn Harris went four innings, allowing one run, one hit and striking out eight.

This was a great week for the varsity softball team they had determination and effort all around. I loved watching the aggressiveness on the bases from our Dragons. There bats where alive this week!! We are climbing the mountain game by game. The fans have been fantastic. On Friday we drew our biggest crowd yet.

Varsity Track & Field Compete At Maverick Relays–Girls’ 4th, Boys’ 9th, Two Champions

March 3-4 at 50th Maverick Relays at St. John’s School

The girls’ team finished 4th overall.

From Coach Scott Holland: Forty-two teams competed at St. John’s. As Saturday went on, the weather turned cool and rainy however, our kids competed well. No school records were set this meet but 17 PRs were set at this meet.
The Cooper Track & Field athletes competed strongly in a large and talented field. Despite the size of the meet, our athletes stayed focused and performed well. The process continues to improve to be at our best for SPC at the end of April.
