Informative Sessions Set On "Parents As Prevention Agents"

Freedom From Chemical Dependency Counselors Here February 13-17

As part of The John Cooper School’s health and wellness education program, and an ongoing commitment to drug prevention, teachers from FCD Educational Services will be on campus for the week of February 13-17. Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) is a non-profit organization that provides alcohol, tobacco, and other drug education for schools and colleges in the United States and abroad.

In addition to working with Middle and Upper School students and faculty throughout the week, two sessions for parents are scheduled.

Lead FCD Educational Specialist Rodney Poole will lead one-hour parent presentations entitled “Parents As Prevention Agents” on February 14 at 7 a.m. in the Ramirez Lecture Hall of the Rock Math + Science Center and on February 16 at 7 p.m. in the Glenn Performing Arts Center.

FCD educators are highly trained health professionals who have achieved long-term recovery from alcohol and/or other addictions. This unique “I’ve been there” perspective not only enhances the credibility of their message, but provides students with role models for happy, healthy, drug-free living.
