Township Honors Cooper Champions With Formal Proclamation

May 24 is The John Cooper School SPC Champions Day

At the May 24 regular board meeting of The Woodlands Township, Chairman Ann Snyder read a formal proclamation declaring May 24, 2023 as “The John Cooper School SPC Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) Champions Day. This is the second consecutive year that the Dragons have been honored in May. The proclamation honored the school’s Boys Tennis Team who are SPC champions for the second consecutive year.

The proclamation also included spring and winter individual champions:
• Divers Morgan Robson and Diego Burgos
• Swimmer Monica Ianeva (100M Breaststroke)
• Pole vaulters Milla Signorelli and Nico Signorelli, who also set a school and SPC meet record
• High jumper Gus Feinberg
• Tennis player Mahir Khurana

Associate Head of School Charles Williams, Director of Athletics John Hoye and Athletic Coordinator Scott Holland joined Tennis Coach Jill DelRio, Track Coach Jeremy Eddington, Swim & Dive Coach Sara Bany as they accepted the honor with the Dragon athletes (proclamation below):

BE IT PROCLAIMED:

Whereas, The John Cooper School boys tennis team was crowned Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) Champions for the second consecutive year; and

Whereas, the Dragons defeated Greenhill in the opening match, Kinkaid in the semis, and then St. Mark’s 5-0 in the finals to wrap up the title; and

Whereas, a number of individual titles have also been claimed by The John Cooper School Dragons, including Diego Burgos (diving), Gus Feinberg (high jump), Monica Ianeva (100-meter breaststroke), Mahir Khurana (tennis), Morgan Robson (diving), Milla Signorelli (pole vault) and Nico Signorelli (pole vaulty); and

Whereas, Nico Signorelli set a school record and a SPC meet record with a pole vault of 15 feet, 5 inches;

Now, therefore, I, Dr. Ann K. Snyder, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Township, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, May 24, 2023 as:
