Township Honors Cooper Champions With Formal Proclamation

May 25, 2022 Declared The John Cooper School SPC Champions Day
At the May 25 regular board meeting of The Woodlands Township, Chairman Gordy Bunch read a formal proclamation declaring May 25, 2022 as “The John Cooper School SPC (Southwest Preparatory Conference) Champions Day” to honor the school’s Spring Athletic Champions:

• Cooper Boys Tennis Team, who won the school’s first-ever SPC championship,
• the Dragon Boys 4x800-meter Relay Team, plus
• Gold Medalist pole vaulters, Nico Signorelli and Julianne Hon, and
• SPC Dragon golfer, Tillie Claggett

Head of School-Elect Dr. Stephen Popp and Director of Athletics John Hoye joined Tennis Coach Jill Del Rio, Golf Coach Rod Gold, Track & Field Coach George Dohner as they accepted the honor with the Dragon athletes (proclamation below).

BE IT PROCLAIMED:
Whereas, The John Cooper School Dragons have captured a SPC Championship and several gold medals in 2022 state of Texas Spring sports competitions; and
 
Whereas, the Dragon Boys Tennis Team made program history with a 3-2 win over St. John’s for the school’s first-ever Southwest Preparatory Conference Championship, through the efforts of Mahi Khurana, Theo Nemeth, Parker Gregory, Andrew Burchfiel, Danny Capsimalis, Joey Barron, Laurent Moran, Julian Mathew, Danny Williams, Dhilan Jolly and Luke Smith; and
 
Whereas, the Dragon Boys 4 x 800-Meter Relay Team earned a Gold Medal with outstanding performance of Vishnu Swaminathan, Carson Hanson, Adam Elsolh and Drew Wilkerson; and
 
Whereas, individual gold medals were earned by Nico Signorelli for boys pole vault of 14 feet, six inches, and Julianne Hon for setting the school record in the girls pole vault competition of 10 feet, six inches; and
 
Whereas, the Dragons golfer Tillie Claggett also broke the record for the lowest two-day score in Southwest Preparatory Conference history by shooting 68 and 65, for a total of 133;
 
Now, therefore, I, Gordy Bunch, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Township, do hereby proclaim 25th day of May, 2022, as:
