Cooper Student Wins First At Science Fair
7th Grader Cayson Wang Awarded Top Prize
The John Cooper School is honored to congratulate seventh grader, Cayson Wang as a 1st place winner in the Education for Tomorrow Alliance's SCI://TECH Science Fair. His project, The Taller, the Faster? investigates the relationship between pitching speed and the pitcher's height. He proved that taller players have the advantage of fewer injury risks. Wang used a simplified physics-based model to represent one of the pitcher's limbs in the project and applied a tangential velocity formula to find out if height impacts the speed.

The SCI://TECH Exposition includes one of the largest regional science fairs in the nation reaching thousands of students each year and qualifying students to compete in the Science & Engineering Fair of Houston, as well as state and international competitions.
