Students to Perform at Evening Black History Exhibit Reception February 11
Informative activities and speakers are celebrating Black History Month on campus during the month of February.
BLACK HISTORY EXHIBIT AND RECEPTION
An interactive exhibit celebrating historical, scientific, social, cultural and artistic contributions of African Americans to the United States opened on the first floor of The Rock Math + Science Center during school hours on February 3 and will run through February 28. Be sure to stop by during schoolday hours to peruse the artifacts and informative activities.
Enjoy the interactive exhibit and student performances that celebrate the contributions of African Americans to the history and culture of the United States at an evening reception on February 11 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the lobby of The Rock Math + Science Center. Light refreshments will be served.

ALUM DISCUSSES IMPORTANCE OF FOSTERING COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Wade has cultivated a passion for organizations with a mission to improve the lives of citizens through special programs, community collaborations, education, innovation and leadership. Over the course of her career, she has worked in several nonprofits in the greater Houston area, and says she is thrilled to be back at an organization serving people who experience homelessness, helping Houston address a complex societal challenge.
CHILDREN'S AUTHOR SHARES CREATIVE PROCESS
As part of the Lower School celebration of Black History Month, author/illustrator and Texas native, Nikkolas Smith, spent time with students in Grades K through 5 on February 7. He conducted a reading of his books, shared his creative process, and answered questions about his work. Having designed theme parks at Walt Disney Imagineering, Smith is now a concept artist, children's book author/illustrator and film illustrator.
