8/16-17 at CHSM Invitational Tournament Dragons Are Tournament Champions
Coach Ray Hedden: This weekend was a successful few days for our Cooper Dragons. We participated in the CHSM invitational tournament that ran Friday through Saturday.

Pool Play: We started pool play versus CSHA and won in straight sets (25-17, 25-11). Next up was a much improved Frassati. We started off down in both sets but came back with strong defensive pushes and won 25-18 and 25-20. To finish off pool play we played The Village and won, 25-17, 25-18, moving us to the Gold Bracket.

Gold Bracket Play: Round 1 had us against a scrappy Alpha Omega team but we prevailed, winning 25-10 and 25-18. The semifinal pitted us against a bigger PT Warriors team. Thanks to great serving and defense, we won 25-18 and 25-12, moving us to the championship game versus Frassati.

Championship Play: Frassati came back Saturday playing well and worked their way up the other side of the bracket all the way to the championship for a rematch against our Dragons. We played great offensively, defensively and most importantly we displayed great effort and teamwork. We won the championship 25-16, 25-15.

VARSITY FOOTBALL
8/16 (scrimmage) at Fort Bend Christian Academy
Coach Erik DeHaven: The Dragons opened up their season Friday night with a scrimmage against Ft. Bend Christian and Rose Hill. Several players shined for the retooled Cooper defense including Jacob Peterson, Cameron Reed, Matthew Taylor, and Will Corson. The offense scored on their very first play and enabling them to move the ball consistently. Junior QB Kaedyn Sullivan stood strong in the pocket and made great throws connecting with senior Thomas Elkhoury and sophomore Jaxson Pierce. This was the first step in the right direction for our team. We will face a bigger test this week as we host #2 ranked Second Baptist. Junior Varsity will scrimmage at 6pm and Varsity will start at 7pm.
