Will Gain Intensive View of Ins and Outs of Government

Following a rigorous application process and interview, the local American Legion Post #305 has selected Nicholas Harris and Zac Winton, current juniors at The John Cooper School, to attend the Texas Boys State that is scheduled to be held in Austin June 7-12.

The program, conducted in 48 states, is an intensive view of the ins and outs of government, from the township to the state level. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations and assemblies as well as recreational programs.

The local American Legion sponsors rising seniors from local high schools to attend Boys State. Students are nominated based on demonstrating outstanding qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service to the school and community.
