Three Musicians to Play in TMEA All-region Orchestra Concert

Seven Named to TMEA All-region Middle School Band

UPDATE: Senior Samuel Frison qualified to play the bassoon in the TMEA Region IX Philharmonic Orchestra in concert on November 23. Middle School musicians Ian Hou and Daniel Milan will also play in the concert.

Over the course of two weekends in October, Middle School band students auditioned for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 9 Middle School All Region Band.

Out of 1600 entries from around the state, seven students earned a spot in the all region band: Ian Hou (French horn), Tim Lu (percussion), Daniel Milan (French horn) Meg Routh (euphonium), Aurelia Tropia (clarinet), Elakiya Yaraman (flute) and Jason Xiao (trombone).

French horn players Ian Hou and Daniel Milan placed so high in their auditions that they earned a spot in the All Region Orchestra as well. “Congratulations to all of our band students on a job well done,” said Sharon Kalisek, who teaches these students with Band Director Tony Yarbrough.

The TMEA Region Orchestra Concert will be held on November 23 at Klein Forest High School.
The TMEA Region Band Concert will be held on December 14 at College Park High School.
