Lower School Wellness Week

Lower school students engage in wellness activities to promote well-being!
Lower School students participated in wellness activities in their classrooms this past week!
  • Monday marked Mindful Monday, where students had the opportunity to take a nature walk with their homeroom during the school day and activate their 5 senses to focus less on stressful feelings and being more present in the moment.
  • Zen in Ten Tuesday allowed students to pause during their school day for ten minutes to create mindful art while listening to calming nature sounds.
  • Wacky Wednesday is based on the fact laughter is good for our souls! Students shared an appropriate joke or riddle to their class in homeroom to share some laughs together.
  • Thankful Thursday allowed students to create a gratitude acrostic poem, design a thankful poster, or write a letter of gratitude to someone they know.
  • Last, but not least, was Furry Friends Friday, a Lower School student favorite. Emotional support service dogs from Canine Companions visited 4th and 5th grade homerooms to provide some love and comfort to students.
Goal #3 of The John Cooper School’s Strategic Plan is to sustain the whole-child approach in a caring and supportive environment. As we look to the future, we will sustain our whole-child approach by ensuring students are nurtured and supported in a school environment that is not only conducive to learning, but also helps foster intellectual and artistic passions while equipping students with social-emotional skills that will serve them throughout their lives. The Lower School Wellness Week is just one of the many ways The John Cooper School nurtures and cares for the whole student.
